Colin Flint, a geographer by training, is Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Utah State University. His recent book is Near and Far Waters: The Geopolitics of Seapower (Stanford University Press, 2024). He has published research on the topics of geopolitics, China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the Second World War, world-systems analysis, and just war theory. He is editor emeritus of the journal Geopolitics and his books have been translated into Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Polish, and Farsi. He is the author Geopolitical Constructs: Mulberry Harbours, World War Two, and the Making of a Militarized Trans-Atlantic (2016); Introduction to Geopolitics (Routledge, 2011); co-author, with Peter J. Taylor, of Political Geography: World-Economy, Nation-State and Locality (Prentice Hall, 7th edition, 2018). He is co-editor, with Kara E. Dempsey of Making Geographies of Peace and Conflict (Routledge, 2024) and co-editor, with Scott Kirsch, of Reconstructing Conflict: Integrating War and Post-War Geographies (Ashgate, 2011).
