Clive Jimmy William Brown

Dr Clive Jimmy William Brown is a lecturer in teacher education and researcher of work-integrated learning, diversity, and teacher professional formation. His doctoral research examined the lived experiences of student teachers across diverse teaching-practice schools in South Africa. He works closely with schools, universities and policy communities to strengthen the design and supervision of teaching-practice programmes. His scholarship foregrounds how power, identity and opportunity shape who student teachers become, and where they feel they belong. He has contributed to national conversations on transforming teacher education, particularly around equitable school placements and the ethics of practicum support. His current work explores how universities can create learning pathways that prepare teachers for complexity rather than comfort.
