- Reader in French Studies, Queen's University Belfast
Claire Moran's research is broadly based on 19thc France and Belgium. Publications include books and articles on Gauguin, Redon, Ensor, Manet, Courbet and Morisot (eg. Staging the Artist, 2016). Her current research questions how the interior shaped modernity. Most recently (2022), she’s published an edited volume with Bloomsbury (Domestic Space in France and Belgium), as well as two special issues on 19thc Belgian Interiors and on Intimacy with the 19th c journal, Dix-Neuf (2019; 2021). She’s working on a monograph on Berthe Morisot, contracted with Routledge called Morisot’s Modernism and Impressionist Art, for which she was awarded the 2021 Society of French Studies Research Prize Fellowship. The representation of women's work in Impressionism is the subject of a related research project.
