Claire Henry is an Australian Research Council DECRA Fellow (2025-2028) and Associate Professor in Screen at Flinders University, Australia.

Her film and media studies research examining the representation and regulation of sex and violence on screen has not only had a significant impact across feminist media studies, genre studies, and the censorship and classification of screen media, but has increasingly informed policy, practice, and prevention internationally.

She is the author of Eraserhead (BFI Film Classics, Bloomsbury, 2023) and Revisionist Rape-Revenge: Redefining a Film Genre (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), co-author of Screening the Posthuman (with Missy Molloy and Pansy Duncan, Oxford University Press, 2023), and co-editor of the forthcoming Screening Controversial Cinema (with Mark McKenna, Routledge, 2026). She has also published widely in journals including Cine-Excess, Continuum, Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, Journal of Digital Media & Policy, Porn Studies, and Senses of Cinema.
