Christopher Scanlon is an award-winning educator with more than 20 years’ experience working in Australian universities.
He has wide teaching experience across different forms of journalism, including web development and digital publishing, podcasting, video journalism, print and magazine production.
He has also worked in leadership and governance positions, and product development, including leading the development of two postgraduate cybersecurity degrees and a suite of micro units.
From 1999–2007, Christopher was a co-editor of Arena Magazine and online editor of Arena until 2009.
In 2013, his work in teaching innovation was recognised with an Office of Learning and Teaching National Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
He is the co-author of Raising Girls Who Like Themselves (Penguin Random House, 2021) and the Young Adult fantasy novels The Girl Who Fell (Black Inc, 2018) and The Girl Who Chose (Black Inc, 2019).
His work has appeared in The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, The Punch, The Courier-Mail, The Canberra Times, Crikey, Business Spectator, The Monthly, Overland and Arena Magazine.
Christopher graduated from Monash University with a PhD in politics in 2004.
