Following a master’s thesis in biomechanics/movement science at the German Sport University in Cologne, I completed a binational PhD in France and Australia. This focused on the attenuation of structurally caused functional movement inhibition following eccentric damage induction in populations with high incidence, such as mountain ultra-marathoners. Analysis included a multivariate setup examining a battery of parameters of biomechanical, physiological and biochemical nature.
Pursuing an in-depth interest in motion analysis, I spent some time investigating gait disorders in children at the Kinderspital St. Gallen before commencing a post-doctoral position in the Balgrist gait lab. My research interests include the coordination of musculoskeletal systems – especially lower limb – and the impact of neural and tissue plasticity on gait.
