Christopher Lyon

Christopher Lyon is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Death and Society, University of Bath. His research examines how individuals, communities and institutions understand death, dying, loss and bereavement, with particular interests in assisted dying, ageing, inequality and the social conditions that shape end-of-life choices.

He is also a Fellow at the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity and a member of the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of York. With a background in human geography and rural sociology, his wider research explores how people’s relationships with place and culture influence responses to environmental change, public health risks and community resilience.

His current projects use participatory and creative methods to investigate climate change, food-system resilience and the effects of heat and air pollution on urban health.
