Christopher Chapman

I am an oceanographer, climate scientist, and part time ecologist at the University of NSW - Canberra. After finishing my PhD at the Australian National University in the oceanography of the Southern Ocean, I worked in France as a post-doc for four years, once again on topics in Antarctic and Southern Ocean science. I returned to Australia to work for the CSIRO, undertaking in research in everything from clouds to El-Nino, plankton to penguins, and everything in-between. I have spent 6 months of my life at sea on various research vessels, including twice as chief scientist of Australia's RV Investigator. I joined the UNSW-Canberra in May 2026
