Christian Barton

Prof Barton is an expert in the management of difficult to treat, long term injuries, consulting at Complete. Physio Exercise Performance in Melbourne, Australia. He has a particular interest in osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, knee (including patellofemoral pain) and running related injuries. He focuses care on providing individual advice, education and care to empower people to manage otherwise unresolving injuries and pain, and exercise solutions to help regain their capacity to participate in activities important to them (recreation, sport, occupation, etc.). Prof Barton is an international expert in running retraining (world leading educator and clinician), which is often a key missing element to rehabilitation.

Professor Barton's also works at La Trobe University in a teaching and research role, primarily focussed on knee pain, osteoarthritis and tendinopathy injury management and prevention, including running and non-running related injuries. This role includes leading GLA:D Australia, which aims to improve access to appropriate exercise and education to all Australians with osteoarthritis; and TREK, a project aimed at improving access to knowledge of evidence-based treatments. He is passionate about bringing his research knowledge and extensive clinical experience together to treat patients and teach clinicians all around the world.
