Charlotte Gislam

I joined the University of Salford in 2024 after completing my PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University.

I am currently a researcher on the GAMEHEARTS project, which examines the economic, social, and cultural value of the European video game industry. My contributions to the project have involved writing on video game’s position as a cultural form as well as video game’s engagement with empathy.

Externally to GAMEHEARTS, my research focuses on the interaction between humans and non-humans in the construction of space and narrative in video games. I am interested in how these interactions alter wider narratives surrounding the climate crisis.
