Charlotte Barras

I am a materials scientist with experience across research, product development, technical textiles, and materials chemistry sustainable engineering. My work has focused on developing and characterising advanced materials for environmental and performance-driven applications, including PFAS removal from water, filtration technologies, technical textiles, and electrocatalysts for hydrogen energy production. Through my academic and industrial experience, I have developed strong skills in experimental design, materials characterisation, data analysis, technical reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

I have worked across both university and industry environments, including research roles at the University of Manchester and previous experience in product development and materials engineering. This has given me a broad understanding of how scientific research can be translated into practical, commercially relevant solutions. I am particularly interested in sustainable materials, emerging contaminants, filtration technologies, and innovation that supports cleaner, safer, and more circular systems.
