Catherine Furlong

Professor Catherine Furlong is Professor of Education at the DCU Institute of Education and Co-Director of CREATE, DCU’s Centre for Collaborative Research in Teacher Education. She leads research on teacher education, educational leadership, teacher professional learning, and teacher occupational wellbeing.

Professor Furlong leads both the Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Master of Education (MEd) programmes at DCU and teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Her research has informed educational policy and practice nationally and internationally, with recent work on teacher occupational wellbeing contributing to policy discussions in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. She is a Ministerial Appointee to the Teaching Council of Ireland and is a frequent keynote speaker and author in the fields of teacher education and educational leadership.
