Caroline Whitehouse

Caroline is the Manager of the Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (NCASA). NCASA is based within Austin Health in northern metropolitan Melbourne & provides individual counselling, groupwork, family work as well as advocacy & support to victim/survivors of sexual assault and their families and friends. They run prevention programs in secondary schools and outreach to tertiary institutions. They also provide 24-hour Crisis Care to victim/survivors of recent sexual assault.

For over 25 years (including 14 years as the Manager of Sexual Assault Support Services at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne) Caroline has been responsible for the strategic development and delivery of multiple services designed for children, young people, adults, older adults and families, including leading multi-disciplinary teams in direct service delivery, providing therapy to sexually abused children & young people, children who have displayed problematic sexualised behaviours, youth who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours, and their families.

She has also worked in the Child Protection, Family Support and Bereavement Support sectors.

She is a Social Worker, Family Therapist, and is trained in Child & Adolescent psychotherapy. She is also a PhD candidate; her thesis examining the experiences of children, young people, their carer’s and professionals in the hours following the report of sexual assault.
