Caroline Bennett

(She/her)

Caroline Bennett is a socio-cultural anthropologist, whose work considers genocide, mass death, mass graves and the treatment of human remains. Having previously worked as a forensic anthropologist in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iraq, she explores issues of international interventions, human rights, and geopolitics, as well as wider questions of conflict and violence, and the ethics in the collection, retention, and display of human remains in science and education as well as public life. Her long-term ethnographic research explored mass graves from the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Her new project: 'Selling the dead', considers the sale and distribution of human remains.
