Carlos Martín-Isla

Carlos Martin-Isla is co-founder and CEO of Fedder AI and Senior Researcher in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Barcelona. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering and pursued a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems at Pompeu Fabra University.

He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Barcelona in Cardiac Imaging, where he was supervised by Prof. Karim Lekadir. His research focuses on advancing deep learning techniques and developing innovative, collaborative and usable frameworks in medical AI - Cardiology, Oncology, Perinatal, and Mental health - including federated learning (FL) and multimodal foundational models (MMFM). He is also coordinator of the BCN-AIM Lab computational infrastructure and its Federated Platform.
