Carlos Antonio Lopez Manzano

Carlos is a master’s student in the Khelifa Lab in the Department of Biology at Concordia University. He works on the use of insects to recycle waste from overabundant animals such as the Canada goose, focusing on the black soldier fly through both field and laboratory studies. He is interested in the impacts of climate change on ecosystems and uses insects to understand how global changes affect biological communities.

Before coming to Concordia, Carlos completed research internships at Widener University and Purdue University in the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of El Salvador, as well as another bachelor’s degree in environmental science and development from Zamorano University in Honduras. As a hobby, he enjoys making nature observations on iNaturalist and loves playing ping-pong in his free time.
