Carlos was born in Anaheim, California in 1975. He attended elementary school in Mexico (Michoacan); junior high and high school in King City, California, graduating in 1994. He received a Bachelors of Science from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at San Jose State University in 1998, a Masters in Philosophy from the same place, and a PhD in Philosophy from The University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, NM, in 2006.
Carlos' most recent book is: Blooming in the Ruins: How Mexican Philosophy Can Guide Us Toward the Good Life (Oxford 2024).
