From the outset, my main lines of scientific contribution have been guided by a clear awareness of the decisive turning point at which we find ourselves. That is why my work and publications have been mainly in the field of environmental sustainability and the proposal of solutions for adaptation to the new climatic, energy and material challenges. In this sense, two lines of research have complemented each other and have been converging over the last few years. On the one hand, one focused on materials, products and construction systems, as well as innovative technologies applied to Architecture and Construction. And, on the other, on the monitoring, modelling and analysis of the architectural and urban conditioning factors that affect the microclimate of semi-outdoor and outdoor spaces in cities, and the implications this has for the perception of human thermal comfort. My research itinerary, since obtaining my PhD degree from the University of Seville in 2007, has been structured mainly on the basis of the development of funded research projects in these two lines. In relation to the first one, it is worth mentioning, among others, the following funded research projects: PANEL (Natural, Eco-efficient and Light Architectural Partitions), INN2CER (Industrialisation of Innovative Ceramic Cladding), EFIWALL (Green Materials for a Green Building System), and, recently, the CEREA3D project (Passive thermal conditioning system using printed lattice in Architectural Evapotranspirative Ceramics). In relation to the second, PATIO (Projecting Transitional Architectures from an Objective Research), MORE PATIO (Eco-Efficient Design of Courtyards in Buildings through Reduced Order Models), BETTER (BEnchmarking Thermal-behaviour in Transitional spaces as an Energy Efficiency Resource) projects and, currently, the MAUHAUS (Multiscale Assessment of Urban Heat-Island Applied to Urban Suburbs) UTHECA (Machine Learning-based forecasting model for integrated assessment of thermal resilience using Urban Thermal Comfort Algorithms), SOL2030 (Climate Mission at the University of Seville: Strategies for climate change adaptation to achieve a climate-neutral and smart city of Seville by 2030) and COOL&ESCAPE (Urban Cool Island-based landscape Interventions: Data-driven modelling for reshaping urban management and climate adaptation in vulnerable areas) projects.
All this has materialised in 81 papers included in Scopus and 67 in Web of Science. As for the scientific impact of these papers, I currently have an H 24 Index in Google Scholar with 2428 citations, H 22 Index in Scopus with 1514 citations, and an H 21 Index in Web of Science with 1252 citations. This number of contributions is made up of scientific papers published in journals indexed in Scimago Journal Rank, all of which are also indexed in CiteScore. Of these contributions, 39 are also indexed in Web of Science. 10 of these publications have been made in collaboration with researchers belonging to foreign centres of recognised prestige. I have published 8 peer-reviewed books or book chapters, 6 of them in prestigious publishers indexed in SPI (5 of these contributions are also indexed in Scopus), the remaining one being published in the Textos de Doctorado collection, which has until 2023 the CEA-APQ Seal of Quality in Academic Publishing and has been awarded in the prestigious FAD 2019 awards. I have been and I am, to date, Researcher in Charge of 6 research projects obtained in competitive and funded calls, 3 of them in national calls and the other 3 at regional level, having participated as a researcher in 14 others. I have presented papers at more than 40 scientific conferences, the vast majority of them of an international nature. Twelve of these contributions are indexed in Scopus. I have been a regular reviewer of journals indexed in JCR, having reviewed more than 208 scientific articles to date. I am currently an evaluator for the Spanish National Agency for Evaluation and Foresight (ANEP), as well as for the Valencian Agency for Evaluation and Foresight (AVAP I am a founding member of the research group TEP206: Sustainability in Architecture, Technology and Heritage (SATH), included in the Andalusian Research Plan (PAI). I have carried out numerous postdoctoral research stays in foreign universities, which have resulted in scientific collaborations with members of these universities. I have acted as guest editor for JCR-indexed journals. I have been a member of several scientific committees of international conferences. And I am linked, as a researcher, to the University Institute of Architecture and Construction Sciences (IUACC) of the University of Seville.
