Carlo Handy Charles

Carlo Handy Charles is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Windsor, a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Sociology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Fellow at the CNRS Institut Convergence Migrations in Paris. His research examines the intersections of transnationalism and sexuality among Haitians in Canada, the United States, France, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.

Before joining the University of Windsor, he completed a dual Ph.D. in Sociology and Geography as Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar and Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar at McMaster University and the Université des Antilles. His commentaries have appeared in The Conversation, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) National Post, the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, La Presse, Radio France Internationale, BFMTV, l'Humanité, Revue Frictions, Medium, Caracas Chronicles, and Daily News, among other venues.
