Dr. Cameron Greensmith serves as the Interim Associate Dean of Academic and Curriculum Support in the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services and is a tenured Professor in the Department of Social Work and Human Services at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Greensmith is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Georgia and has completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Dr. Greensmith is a qualitative researcher with expertise in ethnography, community-based research, and in-depth interviewing. Their scholarship examines how systems and structures of power—including racism, settler colonialism, cisheteronormativity, and neoliberal professionalism—shape the helping professions, including social work, education, and nonprofit organizations. Drawing on anti-racist, anti-colonial, queer, and transfeminist perspectives, they investigate how helping professionals can build more equitable, affirming, and accountable relationships with marginalized youth, adults, and communities.

They are the author of Queer Professionals and Settler Colonialism: Engaging Decolonial Thought within Organizations(University of Toronto Press, 2022) and co-editor of Queering Professionalism: Pitfalls and Possibilities (University of Toronto Press, 2024). Their work spans critical social work, decolonial higher education, inclusive pedagogy, and community-engaged scholarship designed to inform practice, policy, and organizational change.

In their social work practice, Dr. Greensmith draws on EMDR, the Flash Technique, parts-informed approaches, and Polyvagal Theory to support adults processing trauma, strengthening emotional regulation, and fostering resilience. Their approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in respect for clients’ lived experiences and capacity for healing.

At Kennesaw State University, Dr. Greensmith leads initiatives focused on curriculum innovation, student success, faculty development, and strategic program growth, with an emphasis on shared governance and academic excellence. They also serve on the editorial board of Girlhood Studies.
