Caitlin Killian teaches courses on gender, families, reproduction and immigration, as well as globalization with a focus on the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Her areas of interest include gender and ethnic socialization, identity processes, immigration and cultural adaptation, Muslims in Western societies, post-conflict resiliency, human rights, sexual health, reproductive technologies, infertility, childbearing, and adoption.
She is the author of North African Women in France: Gender, Culture and Identity (Stanford University Press 2006). Other publications include articles on immigrants’ identity negotiation (Social Psychology Quarterly), Muslim women and the headscarf in France (Gender & Society; Sociology of Religion), Arab women’s motivations for migration (Women’s Studies International Forum), highly-skilled immigrant women’s labor force incorporation (Social Currents), reproductive health (American Journal of Sexuality Education; Contexts), and adoption (Sociological Perspectives).
