Bruno Takahashi Guevara

Atuo como Professor Titular Brandt de Comunicação Ambiental na Michigan State University. Tenho uma nomeação conjunta na Escola de Jornalismo e no AgBioResearch e atuo como Diretor de Pesquisa no Knight Center for Environmental Journalism.

Meu bacharelado em comunicação é da Universidad de Lima, no Peru, e meu mestrado e doutorado em ciência ambiental (com especialização em comunicação ambiental e processos participativos) são da SUNY ESF, nos Estados Unidos.

Minha pesquisa atual se concentra na cobertura jornalística de questões ambientais, nas práticas do jornalismo ambiental na América Latina e na mídia latina nos EUA, além da identidade na comunicação científica.

Tenho ampla experiência e participação na pesquisa em comunicação ambiental. Atualmente, sou membro eleito do conselho da International Environmental Communication Association (IECA), da qual fui membro fundador. Também atuei como vice-presidente e presidente da divisão de Comunicação Ambiental da International Communication Association (ICA). Minha experiência editorial inclui cinco anos como editor associado da revista Environmental Communication, onde continuo ativo no conselho editorial. Também sou editor associado das revistas Frontiers in Science and Environmental and Science Communication e Climatic Change. Participo regularmente das conferências da IECA, ICA, Association of Education and Mass Communication (AEJMC) e Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ).

I serve as the Brandt Endowed Professor of Environmental Communication at Michigan State University. I hold a joint appointment in the School of Journalism and AgBioResearch and serve as the Research Director at the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism.

My bachelor’s degree in communication is from Universidad de Lima, Perú, and my M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental science (with a specialization in environmental communication and participatory processes) from SUNY ESF, USA.

My current research focuses on news coverage of environmental issues, environmental journalism practices in Latin America and U.S. Latino media, and identity in science communication.

I have extensive experience and participation in environmental communication scholarship. I currently serve as an elected board member of the International Environmental Communication Association (IECA), which I helped to establish as a founding member. I was also vice chair and chair of the Environmental Communication division of the International Communication Association (ICA). My editorial experience includes five years as an associate editor for the journal Environmental Communication, where I remain active on the editorial board. I also serve as associate editor for Frontiers in Science and Environmentla and Science Communication, and Climatic Change. I regularly attend the conferences of IECA, ICA, the Association of Education and Mass Communication (AEJMC), and the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ).
