From 1994 to retirement in 2011, I was director of the Australian National Dictionary Centre. I have edited a number of dictionaries for OUP, and have published books on Australian English, including Speaking our Language: the Story of Australian English (2008). I am chief editor of the new edition of the Australian National Dictionary (2 volumes, OUP, 2016).
