Briony Birdi

I am a Professor of Library and Information Science at the Information School, University of Sheffield, where I am also Head of School in the Information School and School of Journalism, Media and Communication.
I graduated from the University of Sheffield with an MA in Librarianship in 1997, and completed my PhD in Information Studies in 2014. My research relates to the social, political and educational roles of public and youth libraries in society, with a particular focus on diversity, social justice and reading.
I am a chartered member and Honorary Fellow of CILIP, the Library and Information Organisation.
