- Emeritus Professor, University of Tasmania
- Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement, Australian Council of Deans of Science (ACDS)
I taught and researched chemistry at the University of Tasmania for nearly 25 years. I was very fortunate to receive grants and awards for both my teaching and research innovations. After that, I had a stint at the Australian Research Council in Canberra (where I led the funding schemes for Linkage Projects, DECRA, Future Fellowships and LIEF), and then returned to the University of Tasmania as Dean and then Executive Dean of Sciences and Engineering. During this time I was President of the Australian Council of Deans of Science (ACDS) and I have maintained an active role with the Council since then. I am passionate about communicating the value of university science and I am now the Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement for the Council.
