Breanne A. Mertz

Dr. Breanne A. Mertz is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Tampa. Her research examines how marketing, technology, and service systems influence individual and societal well-being, with a particular focus on social media wellness, workplace dignity, and modern slavery. Her work explores how marketplace experiences can both support and undermine consumer well-being and human flourishing, with implications for consumers, organizations, and society. Her scholarship has been published in the Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, and Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, among other peer-reviewed outlets. She has delivered invited talks on social media, technology, and well-being, including her TEDx presentation, “Escaping the Digital Riptide.” She earned her doctorate in Marketing from Louisiana Tech University.
