Bobby is an Assistant Professor in Intercultural Communication at Heriot-Watt University, where he teaches applied linguistics and academic literacy. His teaching explores how language and identity intersect, with a focus on intercultural pragmatics, multilingual communication, and the ways language shapes human interaction in global contexts. Having lived and taught in multiple countries, he brings an international perspective to his teaching and research, always with an eye to how understanding language across cultural boundaries can foster more inclusive and effective communication.

Alongside this, Bobby works at Queen Margaret University as an Effective Learning Advisor. He is also an English language examiner and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. As an applied linguist, what ties his work together is a commitment to seeing academic development as an evolving process, one that blends theory with practice and equips students to find their own voice within the university and beyond.
