Bobbi-Lea Dionysius is a researcher, creative producer, and gender and mental health advocate whose work bridges academic inquiry and industry practice in the Australian screen sector. As co-lead researcher of the groundbreaking Australian Screen Industry Mental Health & Wellbeing Study, she has established herself as a pivotal voice in addressing psychological wellbeing within the entertainment industry. Her forthcoming Pressure Point Report (2025), conducted in collaboration with co-lead Peter Hegedüs, Griffith University, and Screen Well, represents one of the most comprehensive investigations into mental health challenges facing Australia's screen professionals.
Beyond her research contributions, Dionysius has achieved international recognition for her innovative documentary and 360° VR projects, including the acclaimed Sorella's Story (2025), which examines Holocaust awareness across generations through immersive technology and empathetic storytelling. Published in Media, Culture & Society (January 2025), her work on this project demonstrates the intersection of rigorous scholarship with powerful creative practice.
As a dedicated industry advocate, Dionysius serves as board member and Queensland Chapter Chair of WIFT Australia (Women in Film & TV) and was formerly a member of Griffith Film School's Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Council.
