Bharati Sethi is an Associate Professor at Kings' University College, School of Social Work, Western University. She utilizes participatory action research, arts-based methodologies, and intersectionality in her writing and research to highlight social determinants of health in immigrant and refugees’ lives and capture its relevance to social justice. She teaches in the areas of community practice, policy, and transnationalism. Drawing on evidence-based research, field stories, and her own lived experiences she emphasizes the importance of bridging the micro-macro social work practice to serve the most vulnerable segments of the population. She is currently a co-investigator in three SSHRC funded multi-site research projects: Transnational Caregiving experiences of Visible Minority, European, and Indigenous Carer-Employees; Integration of Syrian Refugees; and Aging Well of Older Immigrants.
