Benjamin A. Jancovich

  • PhD Candidate in Behavioural Ecology and Bioacoustics, Casual Academic, UNSW

During my Masters degree at the University of Sydney I worked as an acoustics engineer in research and development at RODE Microphones. I later moved on to Dolby Laboratories where I worked as an acoustics engineer on a 'skunkworks' innovation team, where I was awarded a number of patents for my inventions. In Late 2022, I began a PhD in Behavioural Ecology and Bioacoustics at the University of New South Wales, and since then have been using my background in audio, acoustics and digital signal processing to develop new methods for studying whale vocalisation. I am currently a visiting PhD student in the Mathematics department at the University of Warwick in the UK, where I am developing machine learning methods for the analysis of animal sounds.
