I am Reader in Film Studies at King's College London. I teach and write on history and memory in film, the historical film genres (particularly the biopic), cinephilia and Spanish film culture. My publications include the books Heritage Film, Figuring the Past: Period Film and the Mannerist Aesthetic and (as co-editor) The Biopic in Contemporary Film Culture. Recent publications include papers on: the musical biopic (around the film Barbara, Mathieu Amalric, 2017); new women's biopics; Agnės Varda and bio-cinécriture (forthcoming). I am currently working on a project on ageing and gender in European cinema. I hold a PhD in Film Studies from the University of Glasgow, an MA in English from Georgetown University, and a BA Honors in English with German from the University of Valencia (Spain)
