Becki Ross is a queer anti-colonial feminist who teaches in the Department of Sociology and the Social Justice Institute at UBC. Becki’s academic and activist passions include LGBTQ2S+ liberation, reproductive justice, femme/butch histories, sporting bodies, Indigenous sovereignty, and sex workers' self-determination. The title of her recent book is Burlesque West: Showgirls, Sex, and Sin in Post-War Vancouver. With Jamie Lee Hamilton, Becki co-founded the West End Sex Workers Memorial to remember and honour those workers who were violently expelled from living and working in Vancouver's West End in 1984. Becki's published articles have appeared in Sexualities, Labour/le Travail, The Journal of Historical Sociology, The Journal of Women's History, BC Studies, and Canadian Theatre Review. A long-time sports fan, she loves to participate in curling, golf, cycling, pickleball, and swimming.
