Barbara Oke

(She/her)

I am a environmental health professional that has worked at the intersections of health, environment and industry for over twenty years with experience in contaminated sites, human health risk assessments, air quality, environmental assessments and health impact assessments. I received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in 2003 and completed my Masters in Political Science in 2023, both at the University of Northern British Columbia. My Masters research explored the intersections between the health and resource policy landscape. It focused largely on the way in which health and the social determinants of health are considered in BC's natural resource policy regime and examined how health services in resource dependent regions are affected by major industrial projects. The research positioned this work in the context of globalization, liberalism, indigenous rights and regulatory theory.
