Dr. Balkrushna Potdar is a Lecturer in Marketing in the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics. His research centers on the strategic use of digital platforms to boost brand visibility and consumer engagement, data privacy in omnichannel environments, modern slavery and retail crime prevention, sustainable fashion consumption, and LGBTQIA+ marketing. With over 18 years of experience in university-level teaching and research, Balkrushna brings a wealth of expertise and a broad international perspective. He has led and contributed to numerous global research initiatives, including: Investigating psychological ownership as a deterrent to shoplifting; Applying gossip theory to understand consumer behavior around data privacy; Examining pro-environmental practices in sustainable fashion consumption; Exploring emerging consumer segments such as spornosexuals and metrosexuals, etc. His work reflects a commitment to socially responsible marketing and innovative consumer research.

Balkrushna's teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, preparing students to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital environment. Through close collaboration with Tasmanian businesses, he has spearheaded curriculum initiatives that enable students to apply marketing concepts to real-world challenges. He also mentors postgraduate students at both the Master's and Doctoral levels.

Beyond academia, Balkrushna is actively engaged in global research communities. He is a member of the Sustainable Fashion Consumption (SFC) network and the Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery (HTMS) Research Network, established by the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC), Department of Home Affairs, Australian Government, Canberra, Australia. These affiliations reflect his commitment to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and driving social impact through research.
