Dr Bahar Tuncgenc is a research fellow at the University of Nottingham.
Her research focuses on how people form social bonds, cooperate and coordinate movements with each other. To investigate social, sensory and motor processes, she has worked with infants, children and adults from neurotypical and autistic populations. In her work, Bahar integrates theories and methods from developmental and social psychology, neuroscience and cognitive anthropology.
Her recent work on the psychology of following Covid-19 norms has been recommended as a "must read" by Public Health England and led her to serve as an advisor to the UK government's scientific advisory board for the pandemic.
Bahar is a keen science communicator. She has given – and is always happy to be contacted for – radio, TV or YouTube interviews at national and international scales. She has written several science blogs and conducted public lectures for children and adults.
