Dr Aysin Dedekorkut Howes is an urban and environmental planner with over twenty years of experience in teaching and researching in the United States, Turkey, and Australia and is an award-winning lecturer and researcher. She has a PhD from Florida State University, USA, a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from Clemson University, USA and a Bachelor of City Planning degree from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University’s School of Environment and Science, a member of Griffith University’s Cities Research Institute and Program Director of Urban and Environmental Planning. Aysin has expertise in environmental planning, natural resource management, governance and collaborative planning, regional planning, and growth management. Her research focuses on climate change adaptation and disaster resilience, water resource management, and urbanisation in subtropical areas and coastal cities.
