Assefa Leake Gebru

Dr. Assefa Leake Gebru is an Ethiopian scholar in Political Science, holding a PhD in Political Theory, an MA in International Relations, and a BA in Political Science and International Relations. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Mekelle University’s College of Law and Governance, where he teaches postgraduate courses and engages in research, mentorship, and community service. His academic and research endeavors focus on addressing critical postwar community challenges and formulating strategies for societal reconstruction. Dr. Gebru emphasizes the promotion of human security ideals, concentrating on political reconstruction to advance human rights, democracy, good governance, and the rule of law. He has a profound interest in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Besides, he has cultivated expertise in foreign policy and diplomacy, geopolitics, and regional conflicts and cooperation, particularly regarding China-Africa relations in the Horn of Africa.
