Aria Gastón-Panthaki

(they/them)

I am a researcher dedicated to making children’s digital storytelling more developmentally (specifically socially and emotionally) and academically (specifically STEM) beneficial. Screens are here to stay, and it is up to us as researchers, creators, and/or caregivers to ensure the time spent on screens is as emotionally and academically beneficial as possible. I am currently a phd student in Education at the University of California, Irvine, working with Dr. Mark Warschauer and Dr. Andres Bustamante. In my current research, I focus on leveraging the power of storytelling within the Latinx community to engage young Latinx learners in STEM subjects and build fundamental STEM skills. At the moment, we have begun analyzing the 9 sessions of co-design data with Latine families to guide us in writing the ebooks (More information on my Research page).
