Are Skeie Hermansen

Are Skeie Hermansen is Professor of Sociology at the University of Oslo and a researcher at the Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University. His research focuses on social stratification and immigrant assimilation, using administrative data to study intergenerational mobility and inequality in education, the labor market, and residential contexts. His recent work examines the organizational and structural mechanisms underlying immigrant–native pay gaps across countries. His research has been published in Nature, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and a range of disciplinary journals, and has been featured in international media including the Financial Times, El País, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and Forbes. Hermansen is the recipient of a Starting Grant from the European Research Council, and his work has been supported by national research councils in Norway and Sweden. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Oslo.
