Antonia María Ruiz Jiménez

(Her)

Antonia María Ruiz Jiménez (Málaga-Spain, 1971). I am a Senior Associate Professor at Pablo de Olavide University. I graduated in Philosophy and Arts, Geography and History branch, Contemporary History speciality (Málaga-Spain, 1994). I have a doctorate in Political Science and Administration from Universidad Autónoma (Madrid-Spain, 2002) and a Master's in the European Higher Education Area from Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Sevilla-Spain, 2008).

As a researcher, my trajectory is characterised by the simultaneous curiosity on the study of identities and the political representation of citizens' interests. My doctoral dissertation was awarded by the Spanish Association for the Study of Political Science and Administration in 2003 and was published in 2006 by Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales. The dissertation was centred on gender identities and how rightist political parties incorporated them in Spain and Portugal. Later, my interests have included also European and national identities. Having built a strong career on national identity and nationalism, I have recently specialised in the intertwining connections between nationalism, right wing populist parties and gender. Besides producing several interesting investigations within indexed journals, worth the recognition of three sexenios de investigación by CNEAI (evaluation agency in Spain), I am currently the director of the research group DEMOSPAIN (SEJ-508) within the Andalusian System of Knowledge and the Scientific Coordinator of the Horizon Europe project UNTWIST (GA 101060836), including nine partners in six countries and an EU contribution of € 2.697.318,25. Previously I had been the Scientific Supervisor of NEGOTIATINGSPAIN (GA 621761; EU contribution of € 230.036) within the Seventh framework programme of the European Community for Research (FP7); Principal Investigator of the research project CSO2008-01182 (€ 97.000, funded by the Spanish Science and Technology) and several other regional-level projects (PYR028/17 and PRY040/22 by CENTRA, and FEDER -UPO1381076-).

According to Dialnet Metric (2023), my result outputs receive more citations than the 79% of my colleagues publishing in similar journals in the field of Sociology. According to SciVal, and focusing on my impact during the last ten years (2013-2023), 67% of my scholarly outputs have been cited, with an average citation per output of 3.4 and an average number of views per output of 20.5, totalling 41 citations and 246 views. According to Google Scholar statistics, my work has been cited 965, with an h index of 17 and a i10 index of 26.
