Main Research Interests are in Accelerator Mass Spectrometry.
AMS represents a mass spectrometric technique based on the use of a (tandem) accelerator. Its main applications relate to measurements of longer-lived radionuclides with radiocarbon (14C) dating the most prominent example. The advantage compared to conventional mass spectrometers is its unsurpassed sensitivity for the abundance of specific nuclides.
Research topics: main focus is on nuclear astrophysics; but also applications in geology, archaeology, nuclear physics and fundamental physics, environmental and climate research using long-lived radionuclides as sensitive probes of our environment.
