Anselmo Matusse holds a multidisciplinary academic background, including a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Cape Town; an MA in Higher Education Teaching and Learning from Göteborg University; an MA in Digital Humanities from Linnaeus University; and an MSc in Environmental Science from Linköping University, all in Sweden. Currently, he is a research fellow at the Critical Zones Africa South and East (CzASE) project, where he works as a research officer and lecturer. He designed a transdisciplinary course titled “SDGs and Habitability in Africa”. He has delivered guest lectures at Uppsala University, Linköping University, and ISCTE-IUL. He was awarded the 2025 Emerging Research Award by the Humanities Faculty at the University of Cape Town. He co-edited the volumes “Reclaiming African Environmentalism: Struggles for Habitability and Wellbeing” and “To Defend the Soil is to Defend the Human: Cabral on Soil, Society and Freedom”.
