Anne Richardson Oakes

Dr Anne Richardson Oakes is an Associate Professor of American Legal Studies at Birmingham City University. She is Director of the Centre for American Legal Studies and currently teaches US Constitutional Law and Research Methods. She is also a member of the Society of Legal Scholars.

Anne's specialist areas of interest include:
Equal Protection jurisprudence of US Supreme Court with particular reference to desegregation (special interest: the Boston public schools), the recent affirmative action cases and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Judicial ethics (special interest in the United States Supreme Court’s “jurisprudence of appearances”).
Human Rights and Property (special interest: the resonances between ECHR property jurisprudence and the Takings Clause jurisprudence of the U.S. Supreme Court).
