My research is located within the literature and culture of the nineteenth century, with interests in the Victorian novel, particularly popular genres (such as the sensation novel and crime fiction) and New Woman writing. I am also interested in the Health Humanities, the History of Psychiatry, and Victorian medicine, asylums, and mental health.
