- Professor of English Literature, Mount Saint Vincent University
My graduate training is in Old English literature, although I now teach and do research in the fields of J.R.R. Tolkien studies; medievalism (i.e. responses to the Middle Ages in later times); medieval literature; and higher education pedagogy. Part of my past research has dealt with versions of medieval literature for children. Currently, I am working on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada funded project dealing with Tolkien's compositions in the style of Old English poetry, known as alliterative verse, and exploring how contemporary writers use or adapt this alliterative style.
I am currently a Professor in the Department of English at Mount Saint Vincent University.
