I hold a PhD in Psychology from the University of Newcastle, Australia, which focussed on the reconstruction of driver situation awareness during takeover scenarios from self-driving vehicles. I have spent time working in an industry-based research environment as a Human Factors Research Scientist, designing experiments to inform machine-learning approaches to the detection of driver cognitive load, and how driver monitoring systems can be employed to maximise driver safety. More recently, I have started a position as a Research Fellow in the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences examining attentional factors relating to vulnerable road user crashes (with a focus on motorcyclists).
