- Senior Lecturer in Modern and Environmental History, University of Bristol
I am an international expert in the field of environmental history, specializing in the history of relations between people and more-than-human animals.
My PhD was completed in the field of environmental history, and charted the animal histories of Britain's oldest surviving provincial zoo - the Bristol Zoo. This is the subject of my first book, The Wild Within. I have published extensively in the fields of environmental history, animal history and history of science. I am now working on a history of the 'wild night' across 19th and 20th century Britain and North America.
