I am a plant ecologist with a particular interest in plants growing in environments. My current emphasis is on how plants function and survive under temperature extremes, which are increasing in frequency, intensity and duration. I am especially fascinated with plants living in the harsh conditions of arid regions, namely high temperatures coupled with low, irregular rainfall. To validate theory, I am a strong believer in field research, where I use a range of physiological methodologies to measure plant responses to environmental extremes.
