- Professor, English and Creative Writing, Adelaide University
I am a researcher, writer, and critic, working (since 2021) at the University of Adelaide. I am also Extraordinary Professor at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. A graduate of Rhodes University (South Africa) and the University of Oxford, I have worked previously at the University of Sheffield and at Queen Mary University of London. I am currently Interim Head of School, Humanities, in the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics at the University of Adelaide.
My books include monographs and edited and co-edited volumes on print culture and national literary historiography and on cultural engagements with the discontents of political transition. The most recent titles are *The Bloomsbury Handbook to J .M. Coetzee* (edited with Lucy Graham) and *Olive Schreiner: Writing Networks and Global Contexts* (Edinburgh UP, edited with Jade Munslow Ong), both published in 2023.
I have written for the *Times Literary Supplement* for many years, and more recently also for the "Australian Book Review*.
