Andrew Siebel is Research Manager of the Centre for Systems Genomics, The University of Melbourne. He is also Academic Convenor for the Computational Biology Research Initiative (CBRI).
His research background is in cardiovascular physiology, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) biology, glucose metabolism and fetal programming of adult disease.
Techniques used include primary cell culture physiological assays (cholesterol efflux, glucose uptake, siRNA transfection, qPCR analysis & Western blotting), in vivo mouse models of insulin resistance and myocardial ischaemia, and clinical glucose metabolism studies.
Past roles include working as a NHMRC Peter Doherty Research Fellow in the Department of Physiology, The University of Melbourne and a Research Officer in the Human Epigenetics Laboratory and Senior Research Officer in the Metabolic and Vascular Physiology Laboratory, Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute.
